Spring
It seemed like spring came in quietly this year. The last vestiges of winter’s slow drop to make room for the new growth. Another year of ‘atmospheric rivers’ drenching us and sustaining life. I start to notice the light lingering on each evening. It feels like possibility. Green grass, green trees, green ground, that particular green of emerging leaves stands out. Other colors begin to appear. First, the laurel blooms and the camellias, red and pink, a scattering of orange, like a handful of tossed candies. The magnolias explode into bloom joined by the plums, redbuds, and wildflowers. The lupine becoming a riot of purple on the hills.
